Qs. Otonye Bekangama Ekine is the founder and Principal Consultant of Cost Masters Associates Limited, a firm of Registered Quantity Surveyors, Construction Arbitrators, Project Managers and Property Development Consultants. He oversees the firm’s operations to make sure it achieves its objectives of providing high-quality professional services that meets and exceeds client satisfaction, effectively and efficiently.

Prior to the full establishment of Cost Masters Associates Limited, He had spent over two decades, working in several organizations in the organized private sector of the Construction Industry, he had worked in Professional Quantity Surveying Offices, Multi-National Construction Companies, as well as in Large, Medium and Small Sized Construction Companies, hence his career has spanned through all the organization categories in the organized private sector of the Construction Industry.

His work career within these organizations grew progressively within the period, from Quantity Surveyor (QS) to Senior QS then Head QS and then to Contract / Commercial / Project Manager and he has been involved in several developmental project in Rivers State and other parts of Nigeria, ranging from Infrastructural, industrial, institutional, recreational, commercial, and residential.

EDUCATION

QS. Otonye Bekangama Ekine Obtained a Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech.) Degree from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt. Earlier, He had his secondary and primary education at Federal Government College Minna, Niger State and Lagos Progressive Primary School, Surulere, Lagos State respectively.

PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATION AND HONOURS

QS. Otonye Bekangama Ekine is a Registered Quantity Surveyor (RQS) with the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QSRBN), the only regulatory body of the Quantity Surveying profession and practice in Nigeria.

He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (FNIQS), the only association of Quantity Surveyors in Nigeria – with affiliations to Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria (APBN), Africa Association of Quantity Surveyors (AAQS), Commonwealth Association of Surveying and Land Economy (CASLE), International Cost Engineering Council (ICEC) and reciprocity agreements with Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS), Engineering Consultants Group (ECG) and Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC).

He is also a Member of the Institute of Construction Industry Arbitrators (ICIArb), the leading arbitral institution in the Construction Industry in Nigeria.

EXPERTISE

QS. Otonye Bekangama Ekine is a seasoned Quantity Surveyor and his expertise cuts across all forms of Construction Cost Management from conception through planning through execution, to completion, and throughout maintenance – which covers the entire life cycle of any construction development.

He is also an experienced Construction Project Manager, Property Development Advisor, and Construction Arbitrator.

SOCIAL SERVICE AND GOVERNANCE

QS. Otonye Bekangama Ekine is a lover of charitable activities and that attracted him to join the Rotary International – a humanitarian service organization which brings together business and professional leaders to provide community service, promote integrity, and advance goodwill, peace, and understanding in the world.

He is a Charter member of the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Skywaves in District 9141 and has served as the Club’s Project Service Director for two Rotary years, He is currently serving as the Club’s Membership Director as well as the Club’s President-elect.

His love for growth of the Quantity Surveying profession has led him to play active roles in the governance of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) in various capacities at the State level – Rivers State, Zonal level – South/South and at the National level.

He had served as Assistant General Secretary of the Rivers State chapter then General Secretary for two consecutive terms before becoming the Deputy Chairman / Chairman-elect and then Chairman in straight succession, alongside serving as Member and Chairman of several other chapter committees within these periods.

He has also served the Institute as Member of the National Executive Committee (NEC), National Policy Committee (NPC) and several National and Zonal standing / ad hoc committees.

FAMILY

QS. Otonye Bekangama Ekine was born in Lagos State on Friday, 7th December 1973 to the family of late Mr. Eulalia Pakaikelema Ekine, who before his demise, was a retired Manager at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and late Mrs. Helen Harryba Ekine (Nee Benibo), who before her demise, was in active service with the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS). They both hailed from Buguma City, in Asari – Toru Local Government area of Rivers State.

He is happily married, and his marriage is blessed with 3 children, whom he is relentlessly mentoring to grow in the knowledge of God and love for the society.
